I don't know the answer of this question. I am not from south India but I am the fan of South Inidan food which is awesome in test and best. My favourite food is South Indian.South Indian people most of use fish in there daily food. I visit the chennai city last year and I observe this thing.

I like this kind of variation and things and I also tried it at my home and I think my family member must like it so much,thanks for sharing.
